MISSION VIEJO, Calif., Oct. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- DCSE, a leading
provider of GIS products and services, and Metropolis New
Media, a provider of comprehensive managed hosting and co-location
services for geographic information systems (GIS), today have
announced a business partner relationship. The DCSE sales
force will begin to offer an option for packaged pricing of
a hosted version of MapLibrary.
Metropolis will provide the hosting services in support of
the MapLibrary offering. DCSE customers will have the option
of having Metropolis host the application in a secure and
managed IT environment. The service will be monitored 24x7x365,
includes backup and recovery services, and comes with plenty
of storage space and bandwidth access.
"We are really excited about our relationship with Metropolis
and the possibilities it provides our customers," expressed
Ali Diba, Founder/President of DCSE. "A number of our
customers and prospects have expressed interest in having
someone host MapLibrary on their behalf. We worked hard to
find the perfect partner for such a service. Their specific
focus on providing GIS-oriented hosting services and their
obvious attention to detail is what attracted us to Metropolis."
The MapLibrary application allows organizations to publish
and catalog production-quality maps, making them available
to all members of the enterprise. Metadata, including spatial
information, is captured at the time the map is published,
making it easily searchable via MapLibrary's Web-based interface
or the Metadata Explorer from ESRI. Users find maps spatially
using a JSP-based client that exploits ArcIMS map services.
MapLibrary also comes with an extension to ArcGIS from ESRI
which allows GIS specialists to directly publish their maps
over the intranet into MapLibrary.
Metropolis is an authorized ESRI business partner that provides
outsourced Web, application and database hosting, data storage,
systems monitoring, recovery management, managed security,
co-location and bandwidth services. The company's outsourced
hosting services for MapLibrary offer a predictable and cost-effective
solution for organizations looking to deploy the software
over the Internet. Metropolis operates out of state-of-the-art
Internet data center in San Jose, CA and supports ESRI server
software implementations on a wide variety of hardware and
operating systems.
"We're pleased to join forces with DCSE, a leading software
engineering firm that shares our commitment to quality and
customer service," said Matt Monahan, president of Metropolis.
"This alliance creates significant new business opportunities
for both companies."
With this new offering, customers will be able to take advantage
of several options: 1) they can purchase MapLibrary out-right
and host it themselves; 2) they can purchase MapLibrary and
acquire the services of Metropolis to host it on their behalf;
3) they can lease MapLibrary on a monthly basis from DCSE
while it is hosted by Metropolis; or 4) they can have Metropolis
host their ArcIMS map services in order to reduce the hosting
burden within their own network.
